Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Coil Repair Technician to join our team at DirectMed Imaging. As an MRI Coil Repair Technician, you will be responsible for providing repair and testing of MRI coils, maintaining a knowledge base of MRI coil repairs, and accurately completing repairs and documentation in a timely manner.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain repair processes for MRI coils in accordance with QMS requirements.
  • Ensure repairs are completed following established procedures.
  • Maintain and update the repair knowledge database.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve RF circuitry issues to the component level in a timely manner.
  • Assist in conducting MRI repair studies and analyze the cost-effectiveness of potential improvements.
  • Train staff in repair methods and procedures as directed or necessary.
  • Conduct reverse engineering of OEM cables and reproduction for repair or completion of MRI coils.
  • Understand and draw schematics of cables, documenting appropriately.
  • Have knowledge of various connectors and contacts and their applications.
  • Proficient with soldering iron and de-soldering process.
  • Dexterity and sufficient mechanical ability to assemble and reproduce small parts.
  • Ability to reverse engineer OEM cables and reproduce them.
  • Identify cable types and apply knowledge of in-house cable materials to closely match OEM.
  • Excellent communication skills with persons of all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of FDA 21CFR820 and ISO 13485, as well as other applicable requirements, including company procedures and how they relate to job duties and responsibilities.
  • Operate, interpret, and document QA Scans on MRI QA Bay to functional test MRI coils.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Experience in medical electronics is helpful but not required.
    • Minimally a GED, high school diploma preferred.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Auto CAD, Solid Works, and circuit layout tools preferred, as well as other software programs as needed.
    • Solder certified or on-the-job training equivalent, preferred.

    • Demonstrated ability to perform tasks and coil repairs under pressure.
    • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic circuits at the component level (not at circuit board level).
    • Thorough understanding of electronic circuits, with the ability to read and interpret schematics.
    • Experience with electronic test equipment such as multimeters and network analyzers.
    • Electronic circuity at the component level.
  • Language Skills
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
    • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
    • Excellent communication skills with people of all levels of the organization.
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Very High Skills: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Basic Typing Skills.
    • ERP knowledge is a plus.
  • Equipment
    • Electrical/electronic lab equipment including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and network analyzers.
    • FDM type 3D printer.
    • Ladders, Hoists, Slings.
    • General Hand/Power tools.
    • Hand Truck.
  • Physical Job Requirements:
    • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
    • Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time.
    • Lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
    • Work with hands and in/around equipment.
  • Work Environment/Exposure to Environmental Conditions:
    • Limited Risk of Radiation.
    • Risk of electrical shock.
    • Work near moving mechanical parts.
    • Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
