Job Title: Materials Specialist

Crown Cork & Seal USA, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Materials Specialist to join our prime materials team based out of Tinley Park. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing purchasing support projects for aluminium and steel in support of operations and sourcing teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical leadership responsibilities for aluminium and steel specifications and qualifications in North and South America and Europe
  • Adhering to and supporting the Crown Materials Qualification Process, ensuring conformance of suppliers and working with the Regulatory team to ensure compliance of new materials
  • Closing cooperation with Crown's Purchasing Group, business sectors, and other teams within Corporate Technology (CT) to manage the approval of new materials, standardization, or quality performance
  • Providing technical support to Crown's businesses, including metallography lab experience
  • Attending material production and component manufacturing trials when required
  • Supporting supplier audits as requested by the businesses and Sourcing
  • Collaborating with the Packaging Science team in Wantage to support qualifications and failure investigation resolution
  • Supporting the EHS program and continuous improvement in team performance
  • Representing CT at Corporate meetings (Project Reviews, etc.)
Requirements:
  • University Degree in Metallurgy or Materials Science
  • Good communication and team player skills
  • Proactive and results-focused
  • English language proficiency
  • Preferred: Postgraduate Degree, Six Sigma or related training, and experience in aluminium and steel packaging industry
