Job Summary

In this role, you will provide expert knowledge, technical guidance, and consultative support for a discipline or process required for facility commissioning and startup. You will participate in work planning and packaging, turnover coordination, material management and quantities, quality control, and environmental safety and health. You will be an essential resource for specialized technical advice.

This is a full-time role located in the project office, and works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure support of basic startup specialist duties of installation configuration validation and work package development.
  • Provide technical direction to craft completing commissioning and startup (CSU) activities, subcontractor field support, field inspections, completing ITRs for CSU activities, and quantity tracking.
Work Planning & Packaging
  • Liaise with quality, engineering, and project management as required to ensure compliance with contract requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of administrative, component, and system test procedures and maintenance and/or operating procedures.
  • Prepare condition reports and non-conformance reports to document system/component deficiencies.
  • Build schedules and assist with planning of CSU execution activities, including sequence and resource requirements for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Plan, guide, or prepare project administrative and technical documents as required for startup, maintenance, operation, or testing.
  • Prepare startup work packages and test work packages for assigned areas of responsibility.
Turnover Coordination
  • Participate in construction to CSU turnover walkdowns for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Liaise with the field engineer as required to support component/system turnover.
Material Management & Quantities
  • Initiate requisitions for field purchases and prepare quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Track field purchases and other purchases required for CSU using procurement systems or other database programs as required.
Quality Control
  • Review project design data to ensure completeness to the extent required to support CSU activities.
  • Perform walkdowns to validate that the system configuration is in accordance with the design.
  • Perform and/or monitor testing of equipment to assure conformance with specifications and compliance with test procedures, that work methods are undertaken safely and activities are supported to meet schedule and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements.
ES&H
  • Identify and elevate ES&H issues in the field and be a visible 'walk the talk' leader in good ES&H practices.
Education and Experience Requirements

Level 1:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.

Level 2:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
  • Must possess the right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to interact closely and frequently with engineering, client management, operations, and maintenance personnel while maintaining necessary levels of commercial awareness.
  • Previous experience with requirements analysis.
  • Must be able to walk at least 3 miles per day over uneven ground and be able to climb stair towers 75' in height at least 6 times per day to access project equipment.
