Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technical Specialist to join our team at Fairview Health Services. This is a full-time position in the Flow Cytometry section of the Hematopathology laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the technical operation of the Flow Cytometry section, including analyzer maintenance, validation, calibration, quality control, training, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement new assays, and work closely with staff, fellows, and pathologists to train and provide technical expertise.
  • Direct workflow to ensure accurate, efficient, and cost-effective provision of testing.
  • Participate in planning and financial management, and assume responsibility for the technical operations of assigned laboratory(s)/section(s).
  • Perform a wide variety of complex diagnostic procedures, including waived, moderate, or high complexity testing as defined by CLIA '88.
  • Directly communicate results to providers to investigate and resolve incongruent results.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to ensure appropriate quality and performance measures are in place to meet policy, compliance, or regulatory requirements.
  • Orient individuals in laboratory operations, including routine and complex testing methodology, instrumentation, and information systems.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related laboratory field, including the related lab practicum or equivalent routes as specified in CLIA'88.
  • 2 years of Flow Cytometry experience as MLS/MT.
  • Possess or be eligible to receive appropriate HHS-approved laboratory certification, CLS/MT (ASCP) or ASCP specialty certification (SCYM).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience in Flow Cytometry.
  • Instrument validation and assay development.
  • Leukemia/Lymphoma result gating and analysis.
  • Advanced technical operation and troubleshooting of flow cytometers.
