Northwestern Mutual Careers is seeking a talented Senior Life Underwriting Expert to join our team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about building relationships and underwriting complex insurance applications.

About the Role

This position will be responsible for analyzing and appraising life insurance applications, approving or declining applications based on industry-leading mortality and morbidity standards, and providing expert guidance to Financial Representatives and internal partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and appraise life insurance applications using advanced skills and underwriting standards
  • Approve or decline applications based on industry-leading mortality and morbidity standards
  • Provide expert guidance to Financial Representatives and internal partners on case underwriting and risk appraisal
  • Collaborate with medical directors and technical staff to ensure adherence to procedures and regulatory processes
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in underwriting
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex cases
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Proficient in computer skills and software packages, with the ability to learn new systems quickly
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
