Animal Care Specialist

This position provides expert animal care and husbandry services to research animals housed in ULAR facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide nutritional needs of a variety of animal species.
- Perform daily maintenance of animal facility following established industry standards and ULAR's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Review assigned areas for potential protocol or regulatory compliance concerns and report to supervisor or lead technician.
- Transport animals, cages, supplies, and equipment to various campus locations as directed.
- Identify and report sick and unhealthy animals to supervisor/lead technician/veterinary staff.
- Assist in animal health screening programs as assigned.
- Perform regularly scheduled record keeping duties, including cage census, feed/service logs, temperature/humidity charts, and receipts/packing slips.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated ability to handle and move metal racks with or without caging and other facility equipment.
- Proven ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
Working Conditions:
100% on-site – must be fully vaccinated or participate in daily questionnaire and protocols.
Hours:
Monday through Friday 8:00am-5:00pm.
