Culinary Arts Program Coordinator

TSNE seeks a qualified Culinary Arts Instructor to join our Future Chefs team. As a key member of the program, you will work collaboratively with the program team to deliver and refine a work-based curriculum for two of the three Future Chefs programs. Your primary responsibilities will include supervising and leading kitchen and classroom-oriented activities, as well as assisting with professional skills workshops at the Future Chefs kitchen space in Roxbury and offsite at external partner locations.
Job Responsibilities:
• Lead kitchen- and culinary-based program sessions, fostering critical thinking skills in young people while teaching basic culinary, kitchen, safety, and sanitation knowledge.
• Create and execute healthy, balanced menus for programming, catering, and community engagement events.
• Collaborate with Student Services to enhance essential skill development.
• Provide group and individual instruction using effective teaching strategies.
• Evaluate student culinary and essential skills and maintain accurate records.
• Create a positive learning environment in the kitchen.
• Assist in student recruitment and employment/internship opportunities.
• Record student attendance promptly and accurately.
• Participate in Community Engagement events outside of regular working hours.
• Conduct engaging partnership/community tours of Future Chefs.
• Help maintain food inventory and compile food order lists.
• Attend weekly Program and Culinary Meetings and work to develop your own skill level and preparedness.
Requirements and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess prior youth work experience, culinary education, or experience working in professional kitchens. Strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other technological resources are also required. Additionally, Servsafe certification is mandatory. The ability to speak Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Vietnamese is a plus. We seek an individual who can model patience, professionalism, optimism, and integrity for young people and maintain healthy boundaries with them and with colleagues.
Compensation and Benefits:
This position offers a competitive hourly rate of $22.00-$28.00/hour, commensurate with experience.
