Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Technician to join our team at Cleveland Clinic Akron General's Green Health and Wellness Center. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in a fast-paced emergency department environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patient rooms and beds for incoming emergency room patients
  • Take and record vital signs, including temperature, pulse, oxygen saturation, and respirations
  • Assist with patient care tasks, such as catheterizations, enemas, and first aid dressings
  • Answer phone calls and communicate with physician offices
  • Scan charts, use fax machines, and enter patient charges
  • Maintain accurate and timely registration with minimal error rate
  • Assist in emergency situations, including EKGs, oxygen setup, CPR, and monitoring
  • Collect, record, and transport specimens to the lab
  • Keep patient rooms clean and organized, reporting equipment issues and maintaining inventory
  • Set up and assist physicians with procedures, such as pelvic exams and suturing
  • Document patient care in a timely and accurate manner
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent with related experience and/or training in medical assisting, STNA, or EMT
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Previous experience with personal computers, office equipment, and clerical duties
  • One to two years of experience in a related role in a hospital or healthcare facility
Preferred Qualifications
  • Maintain competencies specific to patient population served
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant or EMT
