Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN) to join our team at Regency Retirement Village of Tuscaloosa. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, supervise and guide clinical staff, and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and provide nursing care to residents, including administering medications, performing treatments, and documenting resident conditions and nursing needs.
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate junior staff members and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
- Participate in orientation and in-service training for personnel, and assist physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state-specific Nursing Practice Act.
- Ensure that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner.
- Report and record pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents, and coordinate nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents, and participate in counseling, disciplinary action, and termination of staff, to the extent permitted by state practice act.
- Supervise nursing unit/hall, which includes scheduling and directing staff to the extent permitted by state practice act, and perform other tasks as assigned.
- Promote interpersonal relationships and develop staff morale, and assure that inventory and supplies are maintained on the unit/hall and communicate need for housekeeping, maintenance, and dietary assistance.
- Answer resident call lights and ensure that all residents are checked frequently, and report any suspected abuse to the Director of Nursing/Administrator immediately.
- Graduate of accredited LPN/LVN School of Nursing.
- Valid LPN/LVN license from the State of Alabama.
- Valid CPR certification.
- One year experience in nursing preferred.
- Skilled in motivating and directing the workforce.
- Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the facility.
- Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Solicit resident/family feedback to understand their needs and the needs of the community.
- Work efforts reflect a passion for exceeding customer expectations.
