Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is currently seeking a Senior Manager of Systems Engineering to join our Engineering team within Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division.


Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will oversee a department within the Systems Engineering organization and will report directly to the SDS Systems Engineering Director.

You will establish operational objectives and provide mentorship to Functional Home Room (FHR) Section Managers (SMs) based on Engineering goals, objectives, and company policy.

Provide oversight and assistance to multiple business areas within the division portfolio (Sentinel/GBSD, ICBM Sustainment, and Advanced Programs); ensuring the provision of personnel, skills, and processes for successful achievement of program goals.

As the Department Manager, you will be accountable for managing planning, risk, project performance, schedule, technical quality, and addressing technical or operational challenges when necessary.

You will assist engineers and program staff in developing and maintaining talent within the organization. Frequent interaction with equivalent level managers and programs will be necessary to maintain and exceed health and performance for all programs.

The successful candidate will lead a team of engineers across one or more of the following engineering disciplines:
Command & Control Systems, Launch Systems, Facility Infrastructure, and ICBM Sustainment.

Essential Functions:
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with senior management, peers, and employees.
  • Ownership for the people, processes, and tools that support business areas and programs in achieving their missions.
  • Accountability for recruiting, staffing, and retaining talent to deliver on the objectives.
  • Supporting proposal work, independent technical reviews, program standup and audits, and special assignments as needed.
  • Leading improvements across employee engagement, hiring, development, training, attraction, and retention of top talent.
  • Mentoring, developing, and training your section managers and overall employee base.
  • Reviewing and analyzing released engineering change data and coordinating changes with engineering, quality, support, manufacturing, and engineering data control activities.

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80, allowing employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.


Qualifications:


Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of related experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or a Master's Degree in STEM and 6 years of related experience. Minimum of 3 years in a formal management position. Active Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance and Special Program Access. Experience in Requirements development/management using DOORS or similar tools. Experience in Model development/management using CAMEO or similar tools. Experience in Model Based System Engineering with an understanding of DODAF and SysML.

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

Master's Degree with 9 years of experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics), preferably an Engineering degree. Proven performance as an Engineering Leader in all phases of acquisition, design, integration, and execution.

The candidate will require the ability to rapidly assess and lend guidance to projects assigned to the organizational group as well as demonstrated mentoring and guidance to engineers. Working knowledge and/or experience across engineering disciplines. Experience with the development of mechanical systems and/or physical infrastructure. Experience on ICBMs. Experience creating or growing new sections or departments. Experience managing an engineering team. Familiarity with Agile engineering and Jira. Active TS Clearance, Program Access. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work within a diverse team.

Salary Range:
$156,000 - $271,000. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
