ESL Instructor

Cape Fear Community College is seeking a qualified ESL Instructor to teach adult students at Pender County Correctional. The successful candidate will provide classroom instruction, assess student needs, and develop lesson plans to meet the learning styles of individuals who cannot read or speak English.

• Teach adult ESL students in a correctional setting, using a variety of instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
• Assess student needs through formal and informal assessments, and develop lesson plans to address these needs.
• Implement various teaching methods, including demonstrations, visuals, problem-solving, and group activities, to engage students and promote learning.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance, and stay up-to-date with new developments in adult education.
• Participate in curriculum development, evaluation, and change, and attend faculty meetings as required.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Ability to determine students' English work- and life-related needs through formal and informal assessment.
• Ability to implement various teaching methods to meet the learning styles of individuals who cannot read or speak English.
• Experience teaching adult ESL students, preferably in a correctional setting.
• English as a Second Language (ESL) Certification or equivalent.

• Master's degree in TESOL or a related field.
• Experience teaching employability skills and adult learning theory.
• Ability to apply adult learning theory and principles.
