Job Summary

Lamar State College-Port Arthur seeks a dynamic theatre instructor to serve as a faculty member and our Director of Theatre for the Commercial Music, Visual and Performing Arts Department (CMVPA) in the beautiful Sam and Linda Monroe Performing Arts Center.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the College's theatre classes and theatrical productions
  • Recruit high school and college students interested in performing in theatrical productions and/or majoring in theater
  • Teach assigned courses face-to-face, online, and in hybrid formats
  • Teach Early College High School classes
  • Advise students academically and serve on Departmental/College level committees
Requirements
  • Terminal degree (MFA or doctorate in Theatre) required
  • Collegiate-level teaching experience and the ability to work collaboratively required
  • Ability to understand the teaching and evaluation methodologies used in the total instructional process
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff members in a professional manner
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience serving as Director of Theatre at an institution of higher education
  • The ability to design and build sets, and design and focus stage lights
  • Experience directing musical theatre productions in collaboration with musical directors and choreographers
Work Environment

Classroom setting, normal office environment, and set building
