Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain dialysis equipment to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Administer hemodialysis treatment to patients according to prescribed plans and safety protocols.
  • Assess patient needs, document observations, and collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals.
  • Prepare and maintain a sterile environment to prevent infection.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to patient emergencies and crises.
  • Maintain thorough documentation in patient progress notes and records.
  • Participate in ongoing training and educational activities to maintain competency.
  • Communicate effectively in English and utilize positive interpersonal skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: At least one year of clinical experience specializing in dialysis.
  • Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Dialysis Technician (CCHT) by the Maryland Board of Nursing.
  • Training Requirements: Must demonstrate proficiency in the operation of dialysis equipment and adhere to the hospital's training and competency standards.
  • CPR Certification: Must possess a current CPR certification.
  • Medical Requirements: Must pass a tuberculosis test and drug screening and provide a medical statement of general health including immunization records for Hepatitis B and other vaccines.
  • Background Check: A criminal background check is required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols and emergency procedures per the facility's regulations.
  • Willingness to complete 8 hours of initial training before starting duties.
Working Conditions:
  • The position may involve working on holidays as part of regular duty hours.
  • Technicians must be available to replace absent staff within one hour of callout.
