Job Summary

A Network Technician is responsible for the day-to-day support of the network infrastructure within Monument Health. This includes the needs of the telecommunications closet, including power, HVAC, cabling, management, and connection documentation. The Network Technician is also responsible for troubleshooting the network as first-tier support, escalating or resolving issues using various network tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with co-workers, departments, and vendors to recommend and select network infrastructure required for all connections, intermediate and main distribution frames, service provider demarcs, telecommunication closets, and data centers.
  • Assess new or established demarcs, closets, and data centers to standardize the network infrastructure across Monument Health.
  • Assist in the design and recommendations of new or established demarcs, closets, and data centers in collaboration with Construction Management, Plant Operations, and Data Center Services. Utilize CAD to assist Plant Operations in low-voltage wiring documentation.
  • Install network infrastructure and supporting hardware needed to establish demarcs, closets, and data centers. Coordinate with contractors to install cable to Monument Health specifications. Terminate, test, and document all cabling to TIA/EIA standards.
  • Coordinate moves, adds, and changes for network connectivity as well as perform preventative maintenances over network support systems, including Uninterruptible Power Supplies.
  • Identify deficiencies, recommend, and implement fixes as well as perform life safety tours in collaboration with Plant Operations. Research and recommend new products to improve the standard configuration for demarcs, closets, and data centers.
  • Research and evaluate new equipment and technologies to ensure a reliable infrastructure.
  • Provide support to the organization, division, and peers as a critical function of all IT professionals. Support includes day-to-day peer-level support, emergent after-hours support, and any support required to maintain highly reliable IT systems.
  • Document processes and activities appropriately to maintain highly reliable IT systems. Provide required elements to Call Tracking, Project Management, Change Management, and Disaster Recovery Services Guides to achieve this goal.
Requirements

Preferred:

  • Experience: 3+ years of Computer Networking Experience
  • Education: Associates degree in Communication, Computer Science, or Information Systems

Physical Requirements: Heavy work - exerting up to 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or up to 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or up to 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
