Job Description

The City of San Angelo, Texas seeks a skilled Animal Care Specialist to join our team. This role requires providing humane sheltering services in compliance with State minimum standards and shelter policies. Responsibilities include safely handling animals, maintaining shelter areas, and ensuring animal safety.

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $35,000 - $45,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, some experience working with animals, and reliable transportation. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work in a fast-paced environment, and maintain a high level of physical fitness.

Responsibilities:

  1. Cleaning, disinfecting, and maintaining shelter areas.
  2. Safely handling animals of unknown health and temperament.
  3. Maintaining accurate records in the shelter's database.
  4. Assisting in unloading trucks, stocking shelter areas, and storing materials.
  5. Maintaining facility and grounds in a clean, neat, and organized manner.
