About the Role:

Advanced Construction & Development is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our estimating department, you will play a crucial role in the search, estimation, and submission of bids for various general construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and Verify Bid Opportunities: Utilize your expertise to identify and verify bid opportunities that match our company's capabilities.
  • Plan Takeoffs and Estimating: Conduct thorough plan takeoffs and create accurate estimates for various construction projects.
  • Manage Internal Bid Process: Coordinate and manage the internal bid process with subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Communicate with Subcontractors: Effectively communicate with subcontractors, addressing technical questions and concerns.
  • Execute Takeoffs and Cost Estimates: Execute takeoffs of construction documents and prepare detailed cost estimates for all aspects of a proposed project.
  • Obtain and Manage Bids: Obtain and manage bids from subcontractors, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
  • Prepare Cost Analysis: Prepare cost analysis using Excel spreadsheets, summarizing material, labor, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs incurred in the installation of items.
  • Maintain Subcontractor and Supplier Database: Maintain a database of qualified subcontractors and suppliers, constantly cultivating and seeking out new resources.
  • Develop and Maintain Resource Information: Develop and maintain a database of resource information on products, vendors, subcontractors, government requirements, etc.
  • Attend Meetings and Participate in Change Orders: Attend pre-bid meetings and departmental meetings as required, and participate in estimating the cost of change orders for projects in progress.
  • Suggest Value Engineering Concepts: Suggest value engineering concepts and coordinate their application with management.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Four (4) years of related experience or training within a specialized trade or a general construction environment.
  • Bilingual: Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Experience using Microsoft Office, Construct Connect, CivCast, and on-screen take-off software such as Bluebeam.
  • Construction Knowledge: Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
