Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center is seeking a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in neurocritical care to join the Avera Brain & Spine Institute in Sioux Falls, SD.

This is a full-time, salary-supported position that requires the successful candidate to provide primary medical management of patients within the unit, as well as oversight and collaboration with other practitioners who provide care in the unit.

The neuroscience team at Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center consists of five neurosurgeons, eight neurologists, and five physiatrists. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in neurocritical care practice efficiencies, quality improvement programs, and educational activities for medical students, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals who provide care in the neurocritical care area.

The Avera Brain & Spine Institute offers a range of neurological care services, including a 22-bed medical & surgical ICU, a 16-bed high acuity critical care unit, a 12-bed neuroscience intermediate unit, dedicated neurosurgical operating room staff with intraoperative spinal navigation available, designated outpatient neurological diagnostic center, designated video EEG-monitored beds, and a sleep diagnostic center (AASM accredited).

Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center is a 545-bed, non-profit, Catholic facility and the regional referral center for the Avera Health System and surrounding five-state area. The hospital offers a full range of services, including the region's only kidney and pancreatic transplant program, and bone marrow transplant program. Avera McKennan is a designated Magnet Hospital and a Healthgrades Distinguished Clinical Hospital.

Avera Medical Group is an integrated physicians' network of Avera Health, with over 330 locations in 100 communities in the five-state region of South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska. The group has more than 850 professionals providing focused patient care, and offers a total EMR for longitudinal care.

Sioux Falls, SD has been recognized as one of the most business-friendly communities in the nation, as well as a great place to raise a family. The city has a population of 250,000 and offers a range of recreational activities, including 80 parks, many of which are based on the Big Sioux River Greenway that provides 25 miles of paved bike trails that circle the city.

The arts are prominent in Sioux Falls, with the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Science, a community cultural and educational center providing entertainment options to residents and visitors alike. The Pavilion features a performing arts center, a domed Omni theater, a hands-on science museum, and an expanded display area for the Civic Fine Arts Center.
