Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center is seeking a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in neurocritical care to join the Avera Brain & Spine Institute in Sioux Falls, SD. As a Neurointensivist, you will be responsible for providing primary medical management of patients in the neuroscience unit, as well as oversight and collaboration with other practitioners. You will also have the opportunity to participate in neurocritical care practice efficiencies, quality improvement programs, and educational activities for medical students, residents, nurses, and allied health professionals.

The Avera Brain & Spine Institute offers a comprehensive range of neurological care services, including a 22-bed medical & surgical ICU, a 16-bed high acuity critical care unit, a 12-bed neuroscience intermediate unit, and a designated outpatient neurological diagnostic center. The Neuroscience critical care unit supports all aspects of care for critically-ill patients with primary neurological disorders.

Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center is a 545-bed, non-profit, Catholic facility and the regional referral center for the Avera Health System and surrounding five-state area. Our hospital offers a full range of services, including the region's only kidney and pancreatic transplant program, and bone marrow transplant program. We are a designated Magnet Hospital and a Healthgrades Distinguished Clinical Hospital.

Avera Medical Group is an integrated physicians' network of Avera Health, with 330 locations in 100 communities in the 5-state region of South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and Nebraska. We have more than 850 professionals providing focused patient care, and offer a total EMR for longitudinal care. Our eCARE program leverages interactive video and computer technology to extend specialty services through eICU, eEmergency, eConsult, ePharmacy, ePrescribing, eLTC, and eStroke.

Estimated Salary: $350,000 - $450,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, salary-supported position with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off. Job Requirements:

  • Board certification in neurology with fellowship training in neurocritical care
  • Experience in neurocritical care, with a strong understanding of neurological disorders and their management
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with a team
