As the Supervisor for the second shift, you will oversee the manufacturing operations within your designated department. Your primary focus will be on implementing operational strategies that drive the department towards achieving business objectives, particularly in production and quality metrics, while ensuring a safe work environment.
To excel in this role, you should be a confident leader with the ability to inspire and motivate your teams consistently.
This position entails managing personnel and productivity during the second shift.
You will collaborate with the Operations leadership team and engage in effective communication with first shift supervisors.
The second shift operates from 3 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work.
Key Responsibilities- Support the department's mission and implement actionable performance plans across the team.
- Supervise production processes, ensuring the availability of necessary materials, equipment, and labor resources to meet customer demands.
- Execute action plans aimed at achieving cost-effective and high-quality production.
- Ensure compliance with production schedules, quality standards, and safety policies in OEM line operations.
- Oversee the training and daily operations of technical production staff to maintain a skilled workforce.
- Report on maintenance needs for production equipment to guarantee efficient operations.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to maintain product quality and adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Customer Account Managers, and Quality teams to ensure timely delivery and turnaround of products.
- Identify opportunities for process and equipment improvements to foster continuous enhancement.
- Regularly assess and manage employee performance.
- Achieve production targets concerning schedule, cost, and quality.
- Enforce compliance with goals and aggressive improvement schedules.
- Manage departmental KPIs and operational metrics, providing reports on outcomes.
- Proactively address challenges that may hinder the achievement of production objectives.
- Maintain adherence to operational budgets and business plans to meet production and shipping goals.
- Prepare and present operational performance reports to the leadership team.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive management or supervisory experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Proficient in various manufacturing and office technology systems, including ERP and Microsoft applications.
- Strong leadership capabilities.
- Excellent critical thinking and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proficient in problem-solving and workload organization.
- Experience in staff development and performance management.
- Open to feedback and eager to learn.
- Ability to read blueprints and utilize measurement equipment.
- Familiarity with general hand tools.
- Knowledge of AS9100 regulatory standards and FAA Repair Station requirements.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience in sheet metal fabrication, machining, welding, brazing, and/or assembly is advantageous.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing role.
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Goal-oriented, organized, and possessing strong organizational skills.
- A hands-on leader; this is not an office-based position.
- Ability to foster open communication.
- Skilled in conflict management and resolution.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
- Commitment to creating a positive work environment.
- Stand or Sit: Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
