The Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our outpatient oncology clinic team. This role requires travel and will provide coverage to our Portland and Salem clinics.
Job Summary:The Medical Assistant will provide administrative and clinical support to enable the seamless operation of the clinic. This includes greeting and interviewing patients, taking vital signs, reviewing current medications, and recording in medical records. The ideal candidate will deliver compassionate patient care, support efficient clinic operations, and contribute to an exceptional patient experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Live and exemplify TOI core values, providing outstanding customer service and promoting a positive experience for patients and staff members.
- Greet and interview patients to gather health history, take appropriate vital signs, review current medications, and record in medical record.
- Maintain accurate patient medical records, including demographic, current medications and/or labs, allergies, insurance, and prescription information.
- Schedule appointments, complete patient registration, and collect payments, as needed.
- Administer medications and injections as directed by physician.
- Manage patient care flow and help to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support patient education efforts by explaining policies, procedures, and services to patients using administrative knowledge.
- Assist with inventory organization and stocking of exam rooms and labs.
- Provide support to pharmacy department including processing prescriptions, preparing and labeling medications, obtaining authorizations, assisting patients with applying for financial assistance, and inventory management, as needed.
- Maintain and protect confidentiality of all organizational information including patient and financial information.
- Participate in staff huddles and meetings.
- Willingness and ability to travel to multiple clinics.
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Compassionate and patient-focused attitude.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in completing blood draws and processing labs.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited educational institute.
- Medical Assistant Certificate preferred, not required.
- 2 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant or related position in an outpatient clinic/medical office setting is preferred.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and CPR certification preferred.
