Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Instruction
    • Develop and implement a daily and weekly rhythm that supports the growth and development of young children.
    • Prepare and lead daily activities such as circle time, imaginative play, story time, handwork, painting, cooking, and outdoor activities.
    • Document student progress and maintain accurate records.
    • Develop and maintain a safe and harmonious social environment for students.
    • Ensure a clean, orderly, and beautiful classroom environment.
  • Home/School Communication
    • Prepare and hold regular class meetings with parents to educate them about early childhood education and child development.
    • Conduct parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
    • Write weekly correspondence to parents to keep them informed about their child's activities and progress.
  • Written Reports
    • Complete mid-year and end-of-year reports to document student progress and growth.
  • Planning and Preparation
    • Prepare and implement lesson plans that align with the YMCA's early childhood education curriculum.
    • Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation.
    • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
    • Valid Florida Childcare Staff Credential.
    • At least one year of teaching experience in an early childhood education setting.
    • Strong teaching and student management skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Certifications and Training
    • Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Annual completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens training.
    • Annual completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class.
Salary and Benefits

The YMCA of Southwest Florida offers a competitive salary range of $16.00 to $19.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
