Job Summary:

OSU Physicians, Inc. is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Technician to join our team at the CHWC/Peds Clinic. As a Medical Records Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient medical records.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Medical Record Assembly: Ensure that patient records and associated loose filing are scanned according to departmental procedures.
  • Record Analysis: Analyze charts for completion and prepare deficiency lists of incomplete charts.
  • Files and Scans Reports: Accurately file and scan all reports in patient's medical record, and report any forms or documents unable to be scanned into EMR due to missing patient identification or incorrect labeling.
  • Special Projects and Tasks: Assist with department special projects and tasks, such as research and preparation for special programs.
  • Record Releases: Process record releases when necessary, ensuring release forms are completed properly and verifying patient identity.
  • Correspondence and Subpoenas: Assist with all correspondence and subpoenas, complying with time frames and responding to patient inquiries.
  • Customer Service Support: Provide excellent customer service, answering calls and checking voice messages regularly, and responding to patient inquiries regarding medical record releases, referrals, authorizations, and the status of disability or other forms.
  • Worker's Compensation: Prepare charts for worker's compensation patients, obtain authorizations from insurance adjusters, schedule appointments with specialists, and submit doctors' progress reports to insurance as required.
  • Referrals and Authorizations: Make appointments with referred physicians, confirm insurance eligibility, obtain authorizations, and document progress of referrals in patient's medical record.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in medical records or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
