Head of Maintenance

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Maintenance/Custodial to join our team at Elevate Academy North. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining all facilities, ensuring a clean and safe environment for our students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities- Clean and sanitize restrooms, bathrooms, and other facilities using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, and shampoo carpets.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools, buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high-pressure washers, high-speed buffers, and vacuums for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings, secure buildings when facilities are not in use, check for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, and turn off lights.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed.
- Perform cleaning and related activities such as removing snow or debris from sidewalks and stairs in areas within sixteen feet of buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools on an incidental basis.
- Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds. Launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
- Keep record of Fire Drills.
- Manage compliance with annual safety and building inspectors, including state inspections and local inspections for fire suppression hoods.
- Support the maintenance of grounds, including weed control, watering, sprinkler repair, and relationships with outside lawn care providers.
- Evaluate all maintenance employees.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Previous experience preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence and routine reports.
- Ability to present information and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, students, parents, and secretaries.
- Ability to communicate using correct grammar.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form.
- Prefer that applicant is proficient in English and Spanish.
The work environment includes inside and outside areas. The employee continuously interacts with the public, staff, and students. The employee must frequently meet multiple demands from several people.
