Responsibilities

Virginia Mason Medical Center has been recognized among the top hospitals in Washington state by U.S. News & World Report. We are currently seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to deliver patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. As a Certified Nursing Assistant, your duties will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting patients with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, feeding, and maintaining basic hygiene.
  • Conducting essential patient care tasks including monitoring vital signs, observing and reporting symptoms of illness, assisting with mobility, and performing simple dressing changes.
  • Executing EKGs.
  • Carrying out bedside tests such as blood glucose monitoring, colon screenings, and specific gravity assessments.

Please note that this position requires quarterly certification in American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) post-hire. This ongoing competency is mandatory through internal resources; external RQI competency resources are not acceptable for compliance with CommonSpirit Health requirements.

Qualifications

We require:

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program (or military medical specialty training) or a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (or active NA-R with proof of passing the WA NA-C exam) or LPN with the Washington State Nursing Commission.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • The capability to lift, move, or assist patients using proper body mechanics, including the ability to occasionally lift or push up to 50 lbs. and pull up to 100 lbs.
