Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer within Currency Cloud's Connectivity division, you will collaborate with various teams to develop and maintain integrations with financial institutions globally, ensuring the robustness of our offerings.
Key Responsibilities
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Take charge of the design and implementation of key components within our projects.
- Work alongside senior engineers and stakeholders to identify and resolve bottlenecks, enhancing the overall architecture.
- Design and maintain our data processing infrastructure, managing vast amounts of data efficiently.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Define standards for new product features, ensuring high quality and performance.
- Collaborate with Technical Product Managers to break down complex solutions into manageable tasks.
- Support operational teams in troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Engage with various teams to diagnose and resolve issues impacting our customers.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility between remote and office work. Employees are expected to work from the office a few days each week based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
8+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years with an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA, JD, MD), or 2+ years with a PhD.
Preferred Qualifications:
9+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 7+ years with an advanced degree, or 3+ years with a PhD.
- Proficiency in Java or other backend programming languages.
- Experience with CI/CD practices, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Skilled in building and consuming REST APIs.
- Knowledge of Spring Technologies.
- Experience in architecting secure, resilient, and scalable solutions.
- Hands-on experience in system design for large-scale projects.
Additional Information
This role may require occasional travel. The work will be conducted in an office environment, necessitating the ability to communicate effectively and operate standard office equipment.

The estimated salary range for this position is competitive and may include additional benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
