About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Data Officer to join our team at DataSF. As a senior technical leader, you will play a critical role in shaping the City's approach to data sharing and transparency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data standards and governance policies to ensure data quality and consistency across the City.
  • Lead the development of the City's data strategy, working closely with departments to bring their data online in useful and usable formats.
  • Oversee the ongoing development of San Francisco's open data platform, ensuring it meets the needs of citizens and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the City Administrator's Office to adopt rules and regulations that support data transparency and privacy.
  • Engage with departments and stakeholders to communicate the importance of open data and analytics for better services and decision-making.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of professional experience in developing and implementing policies related to open data and data governance.
  • Three years of experience managing professional staff.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Bachelor or master's degree in a data or policy field.
  • Experience managing data and data products in regulated industries or government.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams with product managers, designers, engineers, and policy staff.
