Job Summary:
As a Welder (CIP Construction) with the City of Albuquerque, you will be responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining metal portions of assigned City facilities and equipment using welding methods and techniques. You will review work orders and assess equipment and materials required for each task, respond to emergencies, and perform field repairs and other technical maintenance duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:

- Review work orders and assess equipment and materials required for each task.
- Respond to emergencies and perform field repairs.
- Perform other technical maintenance duties relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two (2) years technical training in metal technology, welding, or fabrication.
- Two (2) years welding experience.
- Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
- Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.
- Possession of AWS (American Welding Society) Welder Certification preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Methods, materials, and equipment used in the welding field.
- Working properties of steel and other structural metals.
- Metallurgy, metal alloys, and their characteristics.
- OSHA rules, codes, and regulations.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.
- Mathematical computations.
- Proper current and amps for specific welding application.
- Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
