Medical Director, Virginia Poison Center

VCU Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Director to lead the Virginia Poison Center, a nationally accredited regional poison center serving approximately 3.3 million people. The successful candidate will provide medical direction to the center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and education to healthcare providers.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide medical direction to the Virginia Poison Center, overseeing the evaluation and treatment of patients with known or suspected toxicologic illness.
- Establish and approve written guidelines/protocols for the assessment, triage, and treatment of poison exposures.
- Collaborate with the VPC Director to ensure quality assurance assessment of advice and treatment recommended by the Center.
- Develop and implement medical toxicology education programs for healthcare providers.
- Coordinate staff training and educational activities, as well as NPDS fatality reporting and abstracts.
- Collaborate with the Medical Toxicology Fellowship Program Director to supervise and train medical toxicology fellows and housestaff.
- Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine degree.
- Board certification by the medical toxicology subspecialty section of a certifying ABMS Board or certification by the American Board of Medical Toxicology (ABMT).
- Completion of residency and board-certification in Emergency Medicine or a related specialty.
- Unrestricted Virginia Medical License or ability to qualify for one.
- Fellowship training in medical toxicology is strongly preferred.
