Job Summary

This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing fleet vehicles, tractors, and equipment under general supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine to complex maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on all types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance of light to heavy equipment, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
  • Identify problems through routine to technical diagnostics, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Test equipment for proper operation and determine if parts need repair or replacement.
  • Estimate costs and times for repairs and select the most cost-effective methods.
  • Diagnose and repair air conditioning and heating units, as well as front-end problems on cars and light and heavy trucks.
  • Perform tune-ups and specialized electrical wiring on cars, pickups, and specialized equipment.
  • Provide roadside service on all equipment as needed, using work zone safety equipment.
  • Assist with vehicle and equipment specifications and perform other fleet-related duties as needed.
  • Maintain daily work records on work done, materials used, and time spent.
Requirements
  • Valid Commercial Driver License, Class B
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or two to three years of related experience and/or training.
  • Knowledge of large and small engines, electrical and hydraulic equipment, and automotive warehouse and purchasing procedures.
  • Ability to perform routine to technical diagnostics and make appropriate repairs, as well as read and interpret schematics and vehicle drawings.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without assistance, and/or move, push or pull up to 100 pounds or more with assistance.
