Position Overview:
Commonpoint Queens is seeking a dedicated Program Manager for the Family Integration initiative. This role is essential in supervising and delivering resettlement, integration, and social inclusion services to refugees and humanitarian migrants through the Office of Refugee Resettlement's Preferred Communities program. The Program Manager will work closely with the Assistant Director of Initial Resettlement & Social Integration to ensure compliance with all operational guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the programmatic requirements for the resettlement initiatives, including Intensive Case Management and supplemental assistance programs.
  • Ensure adherence to all stipulations set forth by the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of four direct service providers, including Case Managers and Program Coordinators, while facilitating their ongoing training and providing programmatic direction.
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director to implement Quality Control and Monitoring & Evaluation procedures.

Program Oversight:
Cuban/Haitian Initial Services:
  • Manage the execution of the Cuban/Haitian Initial Services program, ensuring that humanitarian parolees receive essential services during their initial 90-day period.
  • Conduct outreach to identify eligible clients and resources to support their needs, while overseeing the development of family self-sufficiency plans.
  • Facilitate necessary referrals to other programs for continued support post-resettlement.

Family Strengthening Program:
  • Lead the development of the Family Strengthening Program, aimed at fostering healthy family dynamics and supporting newcomer families through the resettlement process.
  • Identify family stressors through needs assessments and guide the creation of culturally sensitive educational resources.
  • Oversee outreach efforts to Afghan families and provide necessary referrals and support.

Youth Program:
  • Direct the creation and implementation of programming for refugee youth from various backgrounds.
  • Assess youth needs through surveys and interviews, and establish partnerships with local educational institutions.
  • Support Case Managers in navigating educational challenges and advocate for necessary services.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure comprehensive support for youth clients.

Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree is required; a master's degree in social work or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in refugee resettlement or social services is essential.
  • Supervisory experience is highly valued.
  • Fluency in one or more languages such as Dari, Pashto, Spanish, or Arabic is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills are necessary.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work with diverse populations are crucial.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is essential.
