EEG Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled EEG Technologist to join our Neurophysiology Department at The University of Chicago Medicine. As an EEG Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality electroencephalographic services to patients.

• Conduct EEG recordings and analyze data to identify abnormal patterns
• Apply electrodes according to the 10/20 System and add additional placements as needed
• Obtain standard or extended recordings in various settings, including outpatient areas and inpatient wards
• Recognize artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them
• Monitor other variables, such as EKG, EMG, EOG, or respirations, as technically or clinically indicated
• Use activation procedures, such as hyperventilation, photic stimulation, and sleep, when appropriate
• Select electrode combinations and create new montages and equipment settings for electroencephalographic recordings
• Correctly identify normal and abnormal EEG patterns and summarize recordings for physicians
• Keep equipment clean and in good operating condition
• Perform other duties assigned, including providing guidance to junior technicians

• Graduated from an Electroneurodiagnostic (END) Program or equivalent experience
• 3.5 or more years' experience working in a clinical EEG setting or board certification from ABRET or AAET
• Competency in all aspects of the EEG Technician, Evoked Potential Technician, or Nerve Conduction Studies Technician
• Basic PC and Microsoft Windows knowledge
