We are seeking a highly skilled Veterinary Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our team at Optigy Group.

About the Role

The ideal candidate will have experience in emergency medicine, with a strong focus on providing exceptional patient care and building strong relationships with clients.

As a Veterinary Emergency Medicine Specialist, you will be responsible for treating each patient using a problem-based approach to create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan. You will perform emergency procedures, conduct physical examinations, and gather vital information to make informed decisions.

You will communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with clients, prepare and present estimates, and create accurate medical records. Additionally, you will prescribe medications, follow legally required drug protocols, and perform minor and major emergency surgeries.

We estimate the salary for this role to be around $120,000 - $150,000 per year, based on industry standards and location considerations.

Job Description
  1. Answer medical questions over the phone and see patients right away as part of our Veterinary Emergency Triage and Spikes program.
  2. Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam data to inform diagnoses and treatment plans.
  3. Conduct physical examinations of animals, including ultrasounds, x-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies as needed.
  4. Create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan for each patient, communicating results and recommendations to clients.
  5. Preset estimates and communicate costs to clients.
  6. Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in emergency medicine, preferably in a veterinary setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
