Adjunct Professor in Architecture Position

Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Professor in Architecture to join our faculty at the University of the District of Columbia. As an Adjunct Professor, you will teach design studios in the undergraduate (B.S. in Architecture) program, as well as lecture and seminar courses in your area of expertise.

Essential Duties:

  • Utilize a variety of assessment techniques to ensure achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Familiarize with a variety of instructional delivery methods, including online learning and social media, to provide educational content supported by evidence-based research and individual expertise.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with, or willingness to learn, Blackboard and Banner systems or other learning management systems.
  • Be familiar with the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accreditation standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Department Chair, Associate Dean, Program faculty, and other academic units in CAUSES to effectively address DC and national program priorities related to professional Architecture practice.
  • Perform general student advisement, hold office hours, and perform course reviews with appropriate corrective/enhancement actions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in Architecture (M.Arch. or B.Arch plus post-professional master's degree in architecture or related field).
  • Practice experience and Registered Architect (required) in one of the 54 U.S. jurisdictions, with licensure in the District of Columbia (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with and adherence to NAAB accreditation standards.
