Mechanical Assembly Technician

The Mechanical Assembly Technician is responsible for executing a diverse range of intricate tasks necessary for the construction, repair, modification, and alignment of mechanical and electro-mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and final products.
This role involves interpreting assembly manuals, sketches, blueprints, and both verbal and written instructions. Adherence to critical tolerance specifications, including torque, backlash, and tension end-play, is essential to meet commercial, customer, and UL standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Assemble, repair, modify, and align complex systems, such as multi-gear assemblies and chassis, while consistently monitoring and maintaining precise tolerances.
• Disassemble, diagnose, and rectify issues in sub-assemblies to ensure they meet alignment and calibration criteria for final assembly.
• Identify and resolve form, fit, or function discrepancies in assemblies using specialized techniques and knowledge gained from extensive experience in high-precision assembly work.
• Utilize multi-step fixturization techniques to achieve accurate drilling and alignment as required.
• Operate gauges, micrometers, and testing equipment to verify, adjust, calibrate, and align assembly components.
• Construct, modify, or rework intricate electrical assemblies, sub-assemblies, harnesses, or final products.
• Execute advanced soldering techniques, including soldering in confined spaces or on densely populated assemblies where precision is critical.
• Maintain thorough logs and records of work performed.
• Demonstrate initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Collaborate effectively within a team environment.
• Ensure the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
• Complete all necessary tasks to fulfill the above responsibilities and perform additional related duties as required.
Qualifications
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required to interpret blueprints and electrical assembly diagrams, along with basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance.
• Completion of soldering training and certification in calibration procedures may be necessary to meet customer specifications.
• A minimum of 6-12 months of relevant experience is required.
• The use of a company-provided respirator may be necessary for certain job functions.
