Instructional Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Instructional Support Specialist to join our team at NorthStar Academies in Kissimmee, FL. As an Instructional Support Specialist, you will work closely with our highly qualified classroom teachers to implement effective instructional strategies and support services for students.
The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree in a relevant field or completed two (2) years of college (60 credit hours), Para Professional certification, or be willing to obtain a Para Professional certification. Additionally, they should be bilingual in English and Spanish, proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with at-risk student populations.

Responsibilities:
As an Instructional Support Specialist, you will be responsible for assisting teachers in implementing instruction and related services, providing individualized support to students, and contributing to a collaborative learning environment. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing instructional assistance and support to students;
- Guiding additional practice opportunities and re-teaching material as needed;
- Maintaining accurate records and communicating student progress to parents and staff;
- Participating in professional development and collaboration with teachers to improve instructional practices;
- Assisting teachers in providing additional attention to special needs students;
- Supporting the implementation of school and district policies and procedures;
- Establishing and maintaining working relations with colleagues;
- Collaborating with teachers to analyze different means of meeting student needs and develop strategies to address them;
- Communicating with students, parents, and other team members about student progress and plans for next steps;
- Evaluating educational materials, equipment, and supplies; and
- Participating in planning sessions with the classroom teacher.
Requirements:
