Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate the necessity of respiratory therapy and communicate with physicians to clarify or adjust orders as needed.
- Provide educational resources to patients in both verbal and written formats when applicable.
- Adhere to protocols for documenting critical values in patient medical records.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to assist in patient care decisions, especially in emergency situations.
- Administer airway management, including intubation, tracheostomy care, and addressing airway obstructions.
- Deliver care across various patient demographics, including neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations in both critical and non-critical settings.
- Implement and manage both invasive and non-invasive ventilation systems for critically ill patients.
- Collect blood samples and interpret laboratory results.
- Assemble and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment effectively.
- Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (AMA, JRCTE, or CoARC) with at least an associate's degree.
- Possession of a valid NYS Respiratory Therapist license.
- Credentialed as RRT/CRT by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Proficient in fundamental respiratory therapy techniques, mechanical ventilation, patient assessment, and arterial blood gas analysis.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory; online programs are not accepted.
- Preferred experience of one year in a critical care environment.
The pay range for this position is USD $52.68 per hour.
