Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting and providing direct care to intellectually disabled adults within a 24-hour supervised Community Living Arrangement program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support and care to residents, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Assist residents with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, dressing, cooking, cleaning, shopping, and transportation.
  • Accompany and assist residents on appointments, including medical and social visits.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and secure environment for residents, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to management.
  • Collaborate with residents to develop and implement individualized support plans, ensuring their goals and needs are met.
  • Provide emotional, social, and intellectual support to residents, promoting their growth and development.
  • Manage cash boxes, file outdated staff notes and progress notes, and maintain inventory of paperwork forms and supplies.
  • Operate an automobile or van to provide client transportation, as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior human services experience preferred.
  • Valid PA driver's license and acceptance on the agency's vehicle insurance policy required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC) certification required.
  • Act 34 and OAPSA clearances required.
