Design and Develop Next-Generation Light-Sensing Technologies

At Apple, we're looking for a skilled Optical Sensing Hardware Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our optical sensing team, you'll design, develop, and launch innovative light-sensing technologies that bring our devices to life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and integrate sensors across various Apple products, including iPhone, Watch, iPad, MacBook, and Vision.
  • Develop creative ideas and grow them into rigorous solutions, leveraging expertise in optics, electrical engineering, and optical sensor/system design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver state-of-the-art sensing solutions.
  • Drive technical activities and discussions with external vendors.
  • Lead hypothesis-driven failure analysis, root-cause diagnosis, and system-level problem solving to provide design feedback.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in optics, electrical engineering, optical sensor/system design, and optical test and metrology.
  • Expertise in optical sensor development, including concept design, hardware prototyping, signal processing, and design verification.
  • Experience with optical modeling tools, such as Zemax, LightTools, and FDTD.
  • Knowledge of electrical and optical test and metrology equipment, including profilers, cameras, detectors, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as Python, C/C++, C#, and Matlab.
