Job Summary

El Dorado Springs, a leading behavioral health facility, is seeking a skilled Financial Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our financial services department, you will play a critical role in providing guidance to patients on their financial responsibilities related to our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' financial ability and determine their ability to pay
  • Advise patients on insurance benefits and explain financial liability
  • Collect payment, negotiate payment arrangements, and secure financing
  • Identify funding sources and resolve any confusion patients may have about their financial obligations
  • Verify insurance benefits, including contacting patients and/or guardians for additional information
  • Research and maintain knowledge of insurance reimbursement rates and criteria
  • Evaluate plans to calculate and estimate patients' out-of-pocket charges
  • Collect co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and explore patients' financial circumstances to ensure fair and reasonable repayment terms
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in healthcare collections or a related field preferred
  • Valid Driver's license preferred
  • Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) required within 30 days of employment and prior to patient contact
