About the Position

Colorado Mesa University is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our team. As a key member of our athletic department, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and support to our student athletes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and instruct student athletic trainers in the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries.
  • Coordinate pre-season physical examinations and track inventory of rehab equipment and emergency supplies.
  • Act as a liaison to team physicians and coordinate on-campus visits and summer updates to policy and procedures.
  • Provide athletic training services to varsity athletic events, including taping/wrapping of previous injuries and ensuring proper warm-up exercises.
  • Respond to athletes injured at sporting events, evaluate injuries, and assure proper medical care.
  • Coordinate and evaluate rehabilitation/treatment programs for injured athletes, consistent with doctor's recommendations.
  • Maintain medical records of injuries, evaluation, and treatment for all athletes.
  • Assist in the supervision of student athletic trainers and train them on how to prevent injuries, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate.
Requirements
  • A master's degree in athletic training or a closely related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • Certification with the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
  • A minimum of one (1) year experience as a certified athletic trainer.
