Career Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Infrastructure Designer to join our team at CDM Smith.

As a Senior Civil Infrastructure Designer, you will be responsible for creating and signing off on basic to highly complex engineering designs involving site layout development, site grading and drainage, hydraulics and hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, collection systems, storage tanks and impoundments, foundation designs, stormwater infrastructure and treatment, and occasionally single-story structures.

Your expertise in design and project management will enable you to review draft designs for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will also ensure that firm policies and practices are followed on all designs. Additionally, you will perform site reviews and studies as needed to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications.

You will contribute to the firm's technical knowledge by developing white papers and technical design documentation of new or special case designs, studies, etc. Your work will also involve submitting technical papers and designs for publishing to technical journals. Collaboration with sales staff is essential to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs).

As a seasoned professional, you will review draft proposals for adherence to firm, industry, state, local, and federal regulations and best practices. Meeting with current and potential future clients to review their current and future design needs is crucial. Attending conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff is also required.

You will provide technical guidance and training to more junior staff. Mentoring more junior staff and developing them for future growth within the discipline and firm is a vital part of your role. Supervising the work of junior engineers on project work may also be necessary.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional engineering (PE) license.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Salary: $124,500 - $165,000 per year
