Aircraft Structures Mechanic 3 Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking an experienced Aircraft Structures Mechanic 3 to join our team of qualified professionals. This position will be located at Whiteman AFB, Missouri.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Translate blueprints into fabrications of structural assemblies, including precision drilling, countersinking, and the use of calibrated tools.
  • Align parts on jigs using templates and fixtures.
  • Perform minor part-fitting operations, such as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming.
  • Measure parts with precision tools, such as micrometers and calipers, to verify dimensions.
  • Modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure.
  • Use appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor.
  • Perform maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly, or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
  • Interpret and use various test equipment and work from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
  • Obtain and maintain qualifications as directed by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • High School Degree or Diploma or equivalent and 4 additional education and/or related experience in manufacturing/production experience (or similar).
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, etc.
  • Willingness to work either first or second shift, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of this position, including regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach.
  • The ability to pass Special Medical/Respiratory Exam.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 6 years.
  • Completion of A&P certificate program or associate's degree in an applicable field.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with ability to work with others at all levels of the organization.
  • Previous composite, manufacturing, or production experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to meet customer needs.
  • Initiative, self-starter, adaptable, and high motivation for excellence.

Salary Range: $47,300 - $78,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
