Role Responsibilities
We are looking for a qualified and adaptable part-time Pharmacist to enhance our vibrant team. Successful candidates will engage with certified medical cannabis patients throughout New York State.
Key Duties Include:
- Formulating cannabis-based medications in accordance with physician directives while identifying any therapeutic conflicts; conducting individual patient consultations to ascertain optimal treatment plans alongside referring providers.
- Collaborating with and continuously educating Patient Care Coordinators (PCC) and healthcare professionals on the application of cannabis-based therapies. Dispensing medications based on established formularies.
- Overseeing medication management by monitoring therapeutic regimens and recommending necessary interventions.
- Ensuring operational efficiency within the dispensary by organizing and directing PCC workflows, verifying order entries, and conducting inspections.
- Managing inventory through effective rotation and control measures.
- Providing pharmacological guidance by addressing inquiries from healthcare professionals and counseling patients regarding their treatment options.
- Mentoring students from affiliated Pharmacy Schools.
- Adhering to state regulations as mandated by the medical cannabis program, maintaining accurate records for controlled substances, and supervising support staff activities.
- Upholding a safe and organized work environment by following established procedures and regulations.
- Enhancing pharmacological expertise by participating in educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, and engaging with professional networks.
- Demonstrating proficiency in key pharmacist competencies such as information analysis, medication administration, and legal compliance.
- Availability to work weekends is essential.
- Management experience is advantageous.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Pharmacist license in good standing with the State of New York.
- Experience in both clinical and retail environments with a strong focus on customer service is preferred.
- Additional training in Cannabis-Based Medicine is a plus.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
- Capability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing situations.
- Commitment to ethical practices and sound judgment.
