Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Surgery Nurse Practitioner or physician assistant with substantial experience in surgical first assisting and endoscopic vein harvesting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Manage daily patient rounds, including in the CVICU, and provide patient education and discharge summaries.
- Perform invasive procedures such as chest tube insertions, central venous catheter placements, and arterial line insertions.
- Exhibit independence in the operating room and assist multiple surgeons as needed.
- Conduct endoscopic vein harvesting using advanced techniques and equipment.
- Fulfill first assistant duties for adult cardiac and thoracic surgical cases.
- Utilize extensive knowledge of ventilator management and artificial cardiac devices.
- Address common comorbidities in the cardiac patient population, including hypertension and diabetes.
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years of experience in cardiothoracic surgery as a surgical first assist.
- Proficiency in endoscopic vein harvesting techniques.
- Current accreditation by NCCPA.
