Job Summary: The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) plays a vital role in the Specimen Processing Department, providing essential support functions in a fast-paced production environment. This position requires a strong background in data entry and familiarity with laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform A-station duties and presort specimens according to laboratory requirements.
  • Safely handle specimen pickups and deliveries, ensuring timely transport to the laboratory.
  • Operate imaging and microfilming equipment to document specimens accurately.
  • Conduct centrifugation and aliquoting procedures with attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with biohazard safety protocols.
  • Uphold high standards of productivity and quality to meet departmental completion times.
  • Utilize strong data entry skills to input a minimum of 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour.
  • Adapt to daily changes in compliance regulations related to test ordering processes.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to accommodate night shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call duty, and overtime based on staffing needs.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
