Pediatric Occupational Therapist Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Occupational Therapist to join our team at RWJBarnabas Health. As a Pediatric Occupational Therapist, you will work with patients with disabilities, considering their responses and functional adaptations to the environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Select, administer, and interpret assessment tools to identify and prioritize functional goals for remediation, compensation, adaptation, or prevention of deficits.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members in oral and written formats, including formal and non-formal situations.
  • Apply principles of activity analysis to grade physical, perceptual-cognitive, and psycho-social demands to produce an optimal mesh of the child's or family's abilities to meet environmental demands.
  • Assist in training others, including staff, COTAs, aides, and students, as designated in competency expectations.
  • Take responsibility for seeking supervision or consultation in relation to clinical performance and actively contribute to improvement plans.
Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
  • NJ State Occupational Therapy License.
  • Maintained registration by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board.
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification.
  • Twelve-week pediatric affiliation or pediatric experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of developmental theory and the effects of physical and percepto-cognitive disabilities, as well as the psycho-social aspects of functional adaptation to the environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree.
