Position Overview
Kemper is on the lookout for a National Claims Specialist for Major Losses to join our team. This role can be performed from our Henderson, NV office or remotely from California or Arizona. The selected candidate will oversee and direct the management of complex and high-severity claims, providing guidance to other personnel to ensure all aspects of claims are handled according to established best practices and departmental protocols. Responsibilities include managing all claim-related matters, encompassing investigation, evaluation, resolution, reserve accuracy, and diary maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough reviews and analyses of Home Office Referral files to pinpoint critical issues and devise effective action plans for claims management. Continuously assess and adjust action plans to meet desired outcomes.
  • Direct the handling of coverage positions and coordinate investigations to confirm or deny coverage, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected.
  • Evaluate contractual coverage, liability, and damages through expert assessments to ascertain the extent of exposure to the insured.
  • Document all investigations, evaluations, strategies, and resolutions through various communication methods.
  • Set reserves within authority limits or recommend adjustments to higher management for approval.
  • Conclude claims by communicating coverage and liability positions, directing negotiations, mediations, and settlements as necessary.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in claims handling, with proven expertise in evaluating bodily injury claims and negotiation techniques.
  • Must hold current adjuster licenses in the relevant states.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and collaborate effectively with team members at all levels.
  • Proficient in utilizing Excel for communication, reporting, and documentation.
  • Work is subject to strict deadlines, with significant potential impact on human and financial outcomes.
  • Limited travel may be required.
  • This is a hybrid role, allowing for remote work in California or Arizona, with reporting to the Henderson, NV office.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is competitive, reflecting experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for Kemper's comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, PTO, and 401k.
