Position Overview

The Facilities Maintenance Technician I plays a crucial role in supporting campus operations by managing the relocation of furniture, equipment, and materials. This includes the collection and transportation of various recyclable materials such as paper, plastics, cardboard, and electronic waste.

This role collaborates closely with the Assistant Supervisor of Support Services to devise the most efficient and effective routes to serve the Tulane community.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Possession of a valid and unrestricted U.S. Driver's license (excluding corrective lens requirements) and compliance with the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy to qualify as an authorized driver.
  • Capability to understand and convey oral, written, and diagrammatic instructions.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols related to the operation and handling of large commercial vehicles, recycling equipment, and material handling.
  • Ability to work autonomously and effectively interpret and execute directives from supervisors.
  • Willingness to work during nights, weekends, and holidays.
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
  • Commercial Driver's License
Compensation Information

This position is classified as "non-exempt, hourly" and is assigned to pay grade 22.
