Job Description Summary

The Operational Excellence BDPS Site Lead plays a pivotal role in driving a culture of continuous improvement. This individual leads and collaborates with Business Unit and site OPEX leaders to develop strategies that enhance Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost performance across the manufacturing organization. Key responsibilities include the implementation of a standardized lean manufacturing system, best-in-class processes, and methodologies to support operational excellence and optimal customer experience.

Responsibilities:
  1. Deployment leader for global strategies that drive a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring network alignment through planning, execution, and tracking progress.
  2. Develop and maintain capability to support deployment of global OPEX strategies, locally as required, executing on BD Operational Excellence initiatives.
  3. Benchmark, develop, and deploy network and industry-wide best practice programs to drive continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, utilizing multiple methodologies, including Kaizen, Lean, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, Process Optimization, and Problem Solving.
  4. Collaborate with Business and Plant leadership to ensure CI/CTW programs/projects deliver on expectations, identifying gaps, and developing plans to mitigate potential risks.
  5. Lead a continuous learning environment to develop capability for effective strategy deployment and ensure CI training and development programs in the principles, techniques, and methodologies of Continuous Improvement.
  6. Oversee and lead the strategic direction and deployment of lean manufacturing methodologies across the BD Global Operations network.
  7. Demonstrate improvement in the effective use of manufacturing technology, resulting in efficiency improvement, reduced cost of manufacturing, and identification, sharing, and cross-business adoption of applicable methodologies and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Lean or Six Sigma experience required; Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience; at least 5 years of people management experience required, preferably in both direct and indirect leadership roles.
  • At least 4 years of manufacturing or supply chain or continuous improvement experience.
  • Able to function as a senior leader, influencing at all levels of the organization, ensuring collaboration across all OPEX functions and Manufacturing locations within BD.
  • Strong business acumen, prior experience in a large-distributed workforce with a matrix organization.
  • Facilitation and change management leadership skills/experience.
  • Excellent planning, organization, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, influencing and motivating teams, with a proven track record of delivering tangible results.
  • Practitioner in lean manufacturing techniques.
  • Project management expertise required.
