Away is seeking a highly experienced Chief Accounting Officer to lead our global accounting operations. This strategic role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and plays a critical part in ensuring the financial stability of the company.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing global accounting teams, spanning multiple disciplines, including inventory accounting. Active CPA licensure and a passion for growing not only their accounting leadership career but also the accounting practices at a start-up are essential. Experience working with accounting and inventory software, as well as ERP implementations from an accounting perspective, is required.

This senior leadership position oversees company-wide accounting operations globally, ensuring compliance with GAAP, FRS 102, ASPE, and IFRS. The successful candidate will refine our monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, implementing new controls to improve record-to-report and close accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversight of company-wide accounting operations globally
  • Leadership of internal accounting team, focusing on skill advancement through coaching, mentorship, and guidance
  • Routine audits, collaboration with internal teams and external auditors to ensure compliance and mitigate business/financial risk
  • Tax strategy recommendations aligned with company goals, ensuring efficient tax planning and compliance
  • Federal, state, and international tax filings, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations
  • Cross-functional stakeholder engagement, building strong working relationships with key stakeholders

This role comes with a salary range of $220,000 - $240,000 annually. Additionally, you'll be eligible to participate in Away's Annual Company Performance Incentive Bonus Plan, which offers discretionary bonuses. Equity grants are commensurate with level and determined by the company.
